Background
Company Background
Peter Davidson started the consultancy on 16 June 1988 in West Hampstead in London. The business focused on transportation modelling and software development in its early years, quickly developing a reputation for stated preference and other advanced modelling techniques.
Since then, PDC has developed its transportation planning and market research capability augmented by Peter's civil engineering experience. With a steady build-up in its size and skills base, PDC can now offer a broad portfolio of traffic and transport planning expertise. For very large projects, it forms consortia and it has a good reputation of working with others.
From its inception, PDC has specialized in non-car modes of transport and established an early lead in developing realistic alternatives to the car. This reputation has grown stronger over the years and the consultancy is seen by many as being at the forefront of this difficult field.
The consultancy has come a long way since its modest beginnings. It is now based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire with projects in the UK, Europe, the middle and far East, Africa and Australasia.
Business Investment
From the start, PDC has invested in developing software to improve the tools available to transport planners. This work still forms a core part of the consultancy's activities and interest. It has established the consultancy's reputation as a leading-edge transport practice and has contributed to PDC's excellent track record.
Our Visual-tm transport modelling software provides a comprehensive toolkit for the transport planning practitioner.
We have recently released our Visual Choice software for modelling travellers' decision making behaviour and apply it in conjunction with a conventional transport model.
Future Plans
PDC is a company of enthusiasts and intends to focus on developing its specialist areas of interest. It is not a large impersonal company.
The consultancy plans to remain at the leading-edge of transport modelling and software development and to use that software on modelling projects.
It plans to invest in advancing the state-of-the-art in transport planning and to continue to provide a high quality and comprehensive consultancy service to its clients.
